The New Zealand Knights will clear the air at a media conference this morning as speculation over the future of the club, and in particular coach John Adshead, continues to mount.
It is unlikely there will be any change in team management. Chairman Anthony Lee said a couple of weeks
ago that Adshead had been employed for the long haul and nothing had happened to change that.
He was commenting on suggestions that Adshead's job was on the line after he was rumoured to have offered to resign.
Rather than looking for change, the Knights need stability as they have already had to deal with a change of chief executive when Steve O'Hara was brought in for Guy Hedderwick.
Lee said at that time he had been assured of benefactor Brian Katzen's ongoing support in these obviously troubled times.
If there is to be change, surely that should come on the field rather than off it.
Adshead, who continues to remain upbeat despite the ongoing frustrations and run of poor results, said last week that unless the team picked up some quick points their playoff hopes would be gone and the club might be ready to start looking long term.
Any change to the players would have to be a board decision, he added.
The Knights continue to frustrate, with many fans pointing to the best of the players in the New Zealand Football Championship shaping as readymade replacements when and if the call goes out.
Adshead, Lee and O'Hara will be at this morning's conference.
