Soccer: Fitness not an issue, says Beckham

LA Galaxy midfielder David Beckham is certain he is fit enough to play in this week's exhibition matches against Sydney FC and the Wellington Phoenix.

Beckham has touched down in Sydney ahead of tomorrow night's match at Telstra Stadium.

The 32-year-old said he is desperate to get on the field after a frustrating season marred by injury.

Beckham played in the second-half of England's Euro 2008 qualifier against Croatia last week and said he is almost back to full fitness.

Beckham is refusing to be drawn into talk about the candidates for the England coaching job and he will just wait and see what happens.

He said, luckily, he is not in a position where he has to choose the coach as it will be a very difficult decision.

David Beckham will arrive in Wellington later in the week for Saturday's match with the Phoenix.
