Soccer: Dunedin bid for Phoenix game

Dunedin's new Forsyth Barr Stadium is bidding to host the Wellington Phoenix this season.

Australian reports claim the new stadium, which seats 30,000 is in the race to secure a match between the Phoenix and Brisbane Roar on December 14.

The Phoenix have chosen the Dunedin venue as their regionally-allocated A-League preference, while the Roar have opted Cairns as their first choice.

Both venues are believed to have put in their submissions, but Football Federation Australia will make the decision as neither side has home game rights over the match.
