That also remains the longest winning streak in the league held by three clubs stretching back to the 1984 season.
In seven Hyundai A-League games this season, Melbourne have scored a competition-high 17 goals and have conceded the least, just four, at an average of just .571 per game.
They also have the two leading goalscorers - captain Kevin Muscat and Danny Allsopp.

Perth scored their third win with a somewhat fortuitous 1-0 home win over the New Zealand Knights on Saturday morning. Stuart Young headed the only goal of the match, though the Knights felt it should not have been allowed as defender Frank van Eijs was fouled in the buildup.
Still chasing their second win, the Knights are back across the Tasman this week to play bottom-placed Newcastle on Saturday.
They drew 0-0 in the season opener at North Harbour Stadium. Newcastle have since scored two more draws but have yet to win and trail the Knights by a point.
Coach Paul Nevin hopes a long-awaited clearance for Hamza Mohammed will come through in the next day or two.
He took Mohammed to Perth in the hope the clearance they need from the Ghana FA would come through. It did not and Nevin is as frustrated as his player.
