All Whites midfielder Sarpreet Singh has returned to training as the Wellington Phoenix men push for a finals spot.
Singh has been out of action since mid-February with a knee injury and missed New Zealand’s Eden Park matches against Finland and Chile.
The 27-year-old was forced off early in thesecond half of his side’s 2-2 draw with Western Sydney Wanderers, his first game back with the Phoenix in seven years.
“Sarpreet’s back with the group and he’s had a week sort of on feet modified, but he’s on feet, so it’s great to have him back,” interim coach Chris Greenacre said.
“He’s integrating with the boys again, which is great.”
“We said before that when I first came in, if we were to win every game, there’s a chance that we we couldn’t make the six.
“So again, we need to keep churning day after day, every moment on the training field matters and that’s what we’ll continue doing and then at the end of it, we’ll see where we we mash up in in the outcome and see where we go.
“And if if finals is our destiny, then we’ll prepare for that.”
The Phoenix return to Victoria this weekend to play Melbourne City at AAMI Park.
The New Zealand-based side sit two points behind their opponents on Sunday, who currently hold sixth place and the last finals spot.
