OSLO - Norway's Dagfinn Enerly suffered a neck injury in the last league soccer game of the season which may leave him paralysed from the neck down.
Doctors plan to operate on Enerly, Fredrikstad's captain, today after the accident in the third minute of last Saturday's league game at IK
Start.
The midfielder, 32, who has played twice for Norway, collided with a teammate as he jumped to defend a corner.
He crumpled on impact and lay flat out on the ground for several minutes before being stretchered away.
Enerly's teammates lined up arm-in-arm for a photograph on the front of tabloid newspaper Dagbladet's sport section.
"See you next year, Dagfinn," the caption read.
