Rory Fallon is doing all he can to get a trip home to New Zealand with the England under-17 soccer team in November.
After two rounds of the European final qualifying tournament - with the top three of 16 teams guaranteed a place in the New Zealand-based world
championships - Fallon is the leading goalscorer.
The former Rangitoto College and Mt Albert Grammar pupil has scored the three goals England have managed so far in the Czech Republic-hosted tournament.
His 80th-minute strike earned England a 1-1 draw with Hungary in their opener and yesterday Fallon scored twice as England came from behind to beat Sweden 2-1.
Sweden went ahead seven minutes before halftime but Fallon's 50th and 81st-minute goals got England home.
Fallon, son of New Zealand under-17 coach Kevin Fallon, has recently signed as a professional with Barnsley. By playing for England at this level, Fallon has ruled himself out of contention for future New Zealand teams.
