PARIS (AP) The French league has banned Saint-Etienne fans from traveling to away games until the end of the year following violent clashes in last Sunday's game at Nice.
Saint-Etienne fans ripped up seats and threw them at Nice fans before converging to clash with the opposing spectators inthe stands, leading to several minor injuries.
The LFP said in a statement Wednesday that it has decided "to close the visitors' enclosure for Saint-Etienne's away games until the end of the year."
That means that no Saint-Etienne fans will be allowed to attend next Wednesday's game at Rennes, the trip to Montpellier on Dec. 13 and the League Cup game at Paris Saint-Germain five days later.
The LFP will meet Thursday to decide on any further punishments.
