He said he didn't even check a single result for the entire weekend until after all the matches had been played. Normally when he puts a multi on he checks straight after full-time in the final leg, but this time around it was hours before he found out the good news.
"I didn't look at any results or check it or anything like that," Shane said. "I usually check when the last game's played and check the result after full-time.
"I think this time the last game was at 2am. I woke up at around 9am and I thought I'd have no win like usual. I didn't look whatsoever."
More than $66,000 is a helluva present to wake up to. Shane's longest leg involved a League Two game in England when he had Barnet to beat Yeovil Town at $3.10, and the shortest leg was PSV Eindhoven paying $1.15 to overcome the Go Ahead Eagles in the Dutch Eredivisie League.
"This has to be one of the best multis we have ever seen. With some results going his way late in a few games, it looks like this one was just meant to be. A 20-leg multi is just amazing and to think it all came from a $10 bet," said TAB's Shaun Anderson.
There were a few times things almost went belly up for Shane. Barnet looked like drawing with Yeovil Town until Alex Nicholls scored the winner in the 84th minute, and the Crusaders just scraped a one-nil win over Ballinamallard in Northern Ireland when David Cushley scored in extra time.
After 18 legs had been completed, Sergio Ramos came to Shane's rescue when his 92nd minute goal helped Real Madrid to a 3-2 win over Deportivo.
Shane isn't planning to go too crazy with his new-found cash, though. The single father-of-two plans to pay off some debt and help his kids out.
"I'm going to pay off my debts and I'm looking at a new car and buying some more furniture," he said.
"I've got two kids so obviously I'm setting them up as well with some money each, and buying some newer stuff so we can live comfortably."
