Hertha cleared the ball off the line after Hunt's late free kick slipped through Thomas Kraft's fingers onto the post to hold on for the promoted side's seventh win from 16 games.
Bremen, which lost 7-0 to Bayern Munich last weekend, hasn't won in five games and remains 14th before the rest of the 16th round.
"We're simply not learning from our mistakes. Week after week it's the same (expletive)," Hunt said. "You just can't play like that. We're in the middle of a relegation battle."
