PARIS (AP) The French football league will join forces with the International League Against Racism and Anti-Semitism at matches this weekend.
The LFP said in a statement on Wednesday that it will help promote a mobile phone application designed by LICRA to help combat racism.
The application, for example,enables people to take photos of racist graffiti or tags and send them directly to LICRA, which then swiftly asks local councils and legal authorities to remove them.
The application also advises people on how to react quickly when they witness incidents of racism, as well as providing legal advice to those who are victims of it.
First and second division clubs in France will promote the application on giant screens at their stadiums, websites and in match programs next weekend.
LICRA said there was a 23 percent increase in racist incidents in France last year.
"Let's unite for a more fraternal France," LICRA said.
The initiative is in conjunction with other planned actions against racism in European football organized by FARE (Football Against Racism in Europe) from Tuesday.
