Deportivo La Coruna have cut a transfer deal after discovering the player slammed the Spanish side on Twitter three years ago.
Deportivo announced the signing of Julio Rey from Arosa SC over the weekend,
Rey apparently posted 'puta Depor' - translated as 'f**k Depor' - on Twitter after a matchin 2012, and it was discovered by Deportivo staff who monitor the club's players and future signings online.
In a statement on their website, the club say they took the decision to cancel Rey's move after deciding he wouldn't respect the shirt.
"Deportivo, who announced the signing of Julio Rey this week, has decided not to complete the deal after finding unfortunate comments made by the player on a personal profile online," the statement read.
"Deportivo understands that a player should wear the blue and white shirt must be an example of sportsmanship, have respect for opponents, commitment and positive sentiment towards the Depor, its colours, its shield and the values that the institution represents."
