Sky TV have announced they will screen every match of the 2014 soccer World Cup in Brazil live.
Free-to-air viewers will be able to see 11 live matches on TV.
The news, reported by the Herald two weeks ago but made official today, will redeem Sky in theeyes of many soccer fans after they were outbid by internet company Coliseum Sports Media for rights to the EPL.
"Without doubt the Football World Cup is one of the biggest and most popular sporting events in the world and I know sports fans around the country will be delighted that we'll be showing every match live," said Richard Last, Sky's Director of Sport.
The All Whites are in the qualifying stages for the 2014 World Cup and Sky will have coverage of their home and away Concacaf matches to be played in November against the fourth-ranked North and Central American qualifying team.
