Football: Neymar's lace-tying delay leads to red card against Malaga

Neymar has been dealt one of the more bizarre dismissals of the Spanish football season, after being shown his marching orders against Malaga.

The Barcelona forward was cautioned for slowing the game down, by tying his laces and then saw a second yellow for a clumsy tackle.

His sending off was another bitter blow for Luis Enrique's team in an evening to forget, as the Catalan side fell to a 2-0 defeat.

Neymar's first booking incensed the Barcelona faithful, who felt the referee was overly harsh.

The Brazilian bent down and took an age to tie his laces, subsequently being punished by the official for delaying the taking of a free-kick.

The Barcelona star completed his own personal misery by throwing himself into a challenge and tangling legs with the opposition player.

Barcelona could not fight their way back into the contest from 1-0 down and ended up conceding again, as they slipped up in their pursuit of Real Madrid.

Los Blancos are now three points clear of their fierce rivals and have one game in hand.
Neymar will be out of his side's next clash, a game at the Nou Camp against Real Sociedad.
