This year's English Premier League table sees Leicester occupying top spot on Christmas Day, while Aston Villa are last after a miserable campaign so far.

Leicester have 38 points, two clear of Arsenal, while Villa only have seven. But how much of a good omen is it for Leicester's title hopes to be first at Christmas? And how ominous a sign is it for Villa to spend Christmas Day at the foot of the standings?

We reflect on how things turned out for all the other teams who have been first and last at Christmas.

1992-93
FIRST: Norwich, 39 points
LAST: Nottingham Forest, 15 points
END OF THE SEASON: Norwich 3rd, 72 points. Nottingham Forest last, 40 points

1993-94
FIRST: Manchester United, 52 points
