Brazilian World Cup winner Gilberto Silva was in the Newstalk ZB studios today, discussing his career and the forthcoming Confederations Cup.
Gilberto talked with Mark Watson about the tournament in June, where the All Whites will feature after winning the Oceania Confederation.
New Zealand will be facing hosts Russia, European
champions Portugal and Central American champions Mexico in pool play, with Germany, Chile, Cameroon and Australia on the other side of the draw.
Gilberto won the tournament twice with Brazil, also playing a part in helping his country lift their fifth World Cup in 2002. The midfielder pulled on the famous yellow jersey 93 times in a 10-year international career, while also enjoying a moderately successful stint at Arsenal.
Gilberto played 170 games for the Gunners and was a key part of the 'Invincibles' team that progressed unbeaten through the entire 2003-04 Premier League season. He also claimed two FA Cups before winning the Greek league with Panathinaikos in 2009-10.
