Cashmere Technical's bid for a three-peat of ASB Chatham Cup titles remains alive after a third round victory over Ferrymead Bays at Garrick Memorial Park on Saturday.

The holders reached the last 16 courtesy of a goal in each half to Tom Schwarz which gave the hosts a 2-0 advantage before the visitors pulled one back via Chris Anderson with 28 minutes to go.

But the two-time defending champions did enough over the closing stages to earn their place in the fourth round along with fellow Mainland Premier League side Coastal Spirit who edged Nomads United 3-2 at Cuthbert's Green.

The hosts held a 2-1 advantage at halftime thanks to goals from Shane de Freitas and Joshua Lis while Alec Beresford pulled one back before the break for Nomads.

Lis' second of the game soon after halftime made it 3-1 and despite Sean Gill's 55th minute strike for the visitors it was Coastal who earned their place in the fourth round.

In the Northern Region, Central United prevailed in the clash of the 2014 semi-finalists at Kiwitea Street as the hosts edged Onehunga Sports 1-0 thanks to a 15th minute strike from Vincent Pineau.

Champions in 2008, East Coast Bays were made to work hard by NRFL Division 1 side Waiuku AFC before claiming a 2-0 win at home with second half goals from Dylan Stansfield and Judd Baker getting Willy Gerdsen's men across the line.

NRFL Premier League leaders Eastern Suburbs saw off the challenge of Division 1 frontrunners North Shore United with a 4-1 victory at Madills Farm.

The hosts survived an early scare when Simon Williams saved a North Shore spot kick in the 18th minute before going on to score four straight goals with Brandon Barnes netting twice.

Birkenhead United progressed with a 3-1 victory over Forrest Hill Milford - an Adam Dickinson double getting the visitors home at Becroft Park.

Division 1 Tauranga City United sent Premier League Melville United out, the visitors coming from a goal down to claim a 2-1 win at Gower Park as Colm Kenny and a Jerahl Hughes spot kick got the Bay of Plenty side into the fourth round draw.

After holding a 2-0 halftime lead, Division 2 leaders Papakura City FC survived a comeback from Manukau City AFC to advance with a 4-3 win after extra-time at Walter Massey Park - a hat-trick to Harry Hillary-Jenkins proving the decisive contribution.

On Sunday, NRFL Premier League side Three Kings United advanced with a 6-2 win over Division 2 Oratia United at Parrs Park with Allan Pearce and Dylan Manickum each scoring a hat-trick while Division 1 Mangere United needed two Sanni Issa goals and extra time to see off the challenge of AFF/NFF Conference leaders Waitemata City 2-1 at Centre Park.

In the Central Region, 2014 semi-finalists Napier City Rovers moved on with a 4-2 away win over Palmerston North Marist at Memorial Park.

With the scores locked at 2-2 in the 85th minute and extra time looming, two goals in the final five minutes for Rovers earned their spot as Angus Kilkolly struck from the penalty spot before Josh Stevenson provided the late insurance strike.

Wairarapa United, champions in 2011, advanced with a 3-0 win over Island Bay United on Saturday night as Magna Viera's 11th minute strike combined with a 35th minute Island Bay own goal gave the hosts a 2-0 halftime lead at Masterton Memorial Park which was extended by Liam Hare's 90th minute capper.

In the other evening game on Saturday, Wellington Olympic saw off Petone FC 3-1 at Wakefield Park as Luis Corrales scored twice for the hosts.

On Sunday, Western Suburbs were too good for New Plymouth Rangers, two goals in each half netting a 4-0 win at Merrilands Domain with Men's U-20 international Noah Billingsley among the scorers for the visitors.

Mosgiel AFC ended Otago University's cup run with a 31st minute Rahan Ali goal at Memorial Park.
