Auckland City has been knocked out 3-0 in the opening match of the Football Club World Cup in Morocco by Egypt’s Al Ahly.
After providing resistance for the opening 45 minutes, Auckland City conceded the first goal in first half injury time.
Ah Ahly then added to their advantage in
the second spell to take charge of the game and ensure their passage through to the quarter-finals where they’ll meet the Seattle Sounders.
Adam Mitchell was red-carded for Auckland City late in the match for a tackle denying a goal-scoring opportunity.
