The All Whites' preparations for the 2016 Oceania Nations Cup will continue in November with New Zealand Football confirming on Wednesday Anthony Hudson's side will meet Oman.
Playing on November 12 (November 13 - NZ time) at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in the Oman capital of Muscat, the match
will be the third game this year for Hudson's full senior side as they continue to build towards the first step of qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Ranked 102 in the world, Oman currently lead Group D of the Asian World Cup Qualifying second round and are yet to lose in five qualifiers including a recent 1-1 draw with Iran and a 3-0 victory over India.
Hudson said the clash with Oman provides another opportunity for the New Zealand side to test themselves against strong opposition.
"Having seen them play recently against Iran, I know Oman will provide an excellent challenge for us at a key time of our preparation for next year's qualifiers," Hudson said.
"They are playing well, will be physically strong and playing in front of their passionate home crowd it will be another test for us in all areas of the game."
Made up of predominately domestic players, the Oman squad is captained by England-based goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi, currently with second-placed Reading in the Championship.
The clash with Oman is the first action for the All Whites since the 1-1 draw with Myanmar in September and Hudson is looking forward to the latest opportunity to work with his players.
"As we get closer and closer to our first stage of qualifying in the middle of next year, each trip becomes more important and we need to take full advantage of this opportunity against a good team as we continue to progress the understanding and execution of our playing philosophy."
The All Whites have faced Oman five times, winning three of those matches including a 1-0 victory via a Brad Scott goal in Kuala Lumpur in the most recent meeting in August 2000.
The match will be broadcast LIVE on SKY Sport.
