All Whites midfielder Ryan Thomas is keeping his hopes of another Dutch Cup triumph alive.
Thomas helped his PEC Zwolle progress to the semi-finals of the Dutch Cup, grabbing a vital goal in a 3-2 win over fellow first division side Cambur earlier this morning (NZT).
The 20-year-old scored abrilliant solo goal to put his Eredivisie side 2-0 early in the second half of their away tie at Cambuurstadion.
Cambur fought back to level at 2-2 and send the match into extra time, where Zwolle scored the winning goal in the second half of added time.
Thomas was at the forefront of Zwolle's stunning Cup victory last season, scoring two goals as the Blauwvingers shocked Ajax 5-1.
It was regarded as one of biggest Dutch Cup upsets of all time and also Zwolle's first major trophy in their long history.
It's not out of the question that the provincial club could do it again this season, as traditional powers like Ajax, Feyernoord and PSV Eindhoven are all out of the Dutch Cup.
PSV were knocked out in the quarter finals by Ivan Vicelich's former club Roda JC while Ajax lost to Vitesse. Feyenoord fell in an earlier round. Meanwhile, Zwolle currently sit fourth in the Eredivisie, behind the 'big three' of Feyenoord, Ajax and PSV.
