ZURICH (AP) FIFA has reprimanded Costa Rica forward Joel Campbell for diving to get United States defender Matt Besler booked in a World Cup qualifying match.
FIFA says its disciplinary panel could act against any player who "violates the principles of fair play or whose behavior is unsporting."
TheU.S. Soccer Federation sent a video to FIFA after the incident during Costa Rica's 3-1 win on Sept. 6.
It showed Campbell walking behind Besler, clipping his own foot off the American's leg then falling to the ground.
Besler was shown a yellow card by Mexican referee Marco Rodriguez and was suspended for the Americans' 2-0 victory over Mexico four days later.
