Soccer: England striker Vassell joins Manchester City

England soccer striker Darius Vassell has joined Manchester City from Premier League rivals Aston Villa, City confirmed today.

The 25-year-old completed the Stg2 million ($NZ5.16 million) transfer on a four-year contract after undergoing a medical.

Vassell has scored six goals in 22 internationals but found the net only three times for his club last season when he was out of action for four months because of injury problems.

City signed former Manchester United striker Andy Cole from Fulham last week.
