Soccer: Chelsea, Man U into semis

Chelsea beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 and league leaders Manchester United overcame Middlesbrough with a Ronaldo penalty to book their places in the semifinals of the FA Cup yesterday.

A stunning left-footed goal from Chelsea's Ukraine striker Andriy Shevchenko in the 55th minute was followed seven minutes later by a strike from Shaun Wright-Phillips at White Hart Lane.

Spurs pulled a goal back with a Robbie Keane penalty 12min from the end.

Manchester United had the lion's share of the attack at Old Trafford but needed Ronaldo's penalty late in the second half to get the win.

United meet Watford and Chelsea take on Blackburn Rovers in next month's semifinals ahead of a return to Wembley for the final.
