American actor/comedian Martin is only slightly older than Claudio and another notable silver fox. As a good mimic he could affectionately ape the Leicester City manager's accent and twinkle in his eye.
But Martin would have to be careful not to over-egg the overseas aspect and become the Italian equivalent of Peter Sellers' Inspector Clouseau.
JACK O'CONNELL as JAMIE VARDY
Vardy would be the complex lead role, a man who has had to fight to survive all his life and still trying to conquer his demons as well as the opposition
Having hit the big time as a skinhead in This is England, O'Connell carries the energy and inner conflict that would make him an ideal Vardy.
He'd also understand the rise from humble beginnings, O'Connell grew up in a rough neighbourhood and was given a young offender referral's order for a year during his youth.
Ralf Little from The Royle Family has also been touted to play Vardy for any film because he can play a bit of football, while unkind social media users claim Vards is a dead ringer for Wilfrid Brambell aka Steptoe.
For livewire intensity, Robert Carlyle would have been a good fit if he'd been a generation younger. But bad boy McConnell ticks all the boxes.
PADDY CONSIDINE as NIGEL PEARSON
Pearson would be a slightly bitter and menacing figure sidelined at the last minute as Leicester reach glory (films are allowed a little artistic license).
Vinny Jones has been mentioned in real life to play Pearson but Considine would be far better. He specialises in dark and troubled roles and was even born and raised in Burton, not a million miles from Pearson's hometown of Nottingham.
He also has a football connection, having starred in Red Riding, a TV series written by David Peace of Damned United fame.
Pearson was never far from controversy at Leicester and involved in rucks with fans, media and an opposition player.
Considine once played Frank Thorogood, suspected of murdering Rolling Stone Brian Jones, and is capable of finding the range of emotions to play all sides of Pearson, from deep thinker to red mist.
ZAYN MALIK as RIYAD MAHREZ
Mahrez is the glamour boy who gives the workaholic team-mates the added X-factor
Leicester have gone in only One Direction this season so why wouldn't Zayn Malik be perfect casting for the newly-crowned Footballer of The Year?
Mahrez means quick feet, the ability to conjure up magic on the pitch and an easy charm off it. You could see Malik being able to pull that off.
HUGH JACKMAN as ROBERT HUTH
A granite figure who doesn't take any messing from friends or enemies alike
Asking Wolverine to play the big German defender isn't too much of a stretch, it requires a man of few words and a lot of physicality. Playing Huth, a rock at the heart of the Leicester back-four, allows as many grappling scenes as you'd like, on or off the pitch.
RYAN REYNOLDS as CHRISTAN FUCHS
Fuchs would be the eccentric Austrian import who ups the ante for dressing-room banter.
Leicester's zany defender already believes a bearded Reynolds is his physical double, which is a good start even if that may be an element of wishful thinking.
An action star of films such as The Green Lantern, Reynolds is known as a versatile actor and would have to introduce a madcap element to portray Fuchs, the joker of the Leicester dressing-room who ropes team-mates into undertaking video challenges. He and Robert Huth fired footballs at each other's bare backsides in one memorable contest.
DAVID HAREWOOD as WES MORGAN
Wearer of the armband. Captain Morgan keeps his boys going when they hit adversity
Harewood has played security tough-guys in Homeland and The Night Manager so being the charismatic and never-say-die talisman for Leicester wouldn't be too much of a stretch.
PAUL BETTANY as KASPER SCHMEICHEL
The obsessively hard-working final obstacle for Leicester's enemies to breach
Tall, blonde, commanding, Paul Bettany has even appeared in a superhero film, The Avengers. How appropriate for Leicester's feats this season.
LOU DIAMOND PHILLIPS as LEO ULLOA
Ulloa is the brooding outsider who is finally given a chance and grabs it with both hands
One of the original Hollywood Brat Pack and Ritchie Valens in La Bamba, Lou Diamond Phillips can play sensitive too.
Ulloa has sat waiting all season. Then, when Vardy gets suspended, bang. His two goals against Swansea seemed to have finally broken Tottenham resistance and he deserves to be part of the Foxes film. He sums up the spirit in the whole group.
DAVID OYELOWO as N'GOLO KANTE
The total unknown who becomes celebrated by his team-mates and peers
Kante has been nominated for awards this season so having an Oscar winner take his part seems natural. Oyelowo played Martin Luther King in Selma, nobody is comparing football to that but the Leicester story is also one of different races and nationalities working together for a common cause.
OWEN WILSON as ROBBIE SAVAGE
The excitable TV pundit and Leicester cheerleader
Wilson has the requisite enthusiasm, goofiness and luxuriant blonde hair to do a very good Savage. As the star of Wedding Crashers, Premier League title Crashers is a great sequel.
