One of the most legendary trophies in world sport is heading to New Zealand for the first time, allowing fans to see the silverware up close.
The Premier League trophy will be in Auckland on March 22 from 9am in Te Komititanga Square, right outside Commercial Bay, where fans willget the chance to get a picture with the trophy as part of a full day of Premier League-themed activities.
The trophy is making the trip thanks to Sky TV, which holds the broadcast rights in New Zealand.
“The Premier League trophy is one of the most recognisable symbols in global sport, and this is the first time Kiwi fans will have the chance to experience it in person,” Mark Trowill, Sky Sport’s marketing lead, said.
“We know how deep the love of football runs in Aotearoa, and this opportunity brings fans right into the heart of the action.
“Whether you’re coming for a photo, to watch the match live on the big screen, or just to score some Premier League merch, we’re expecting some big numbers to descend on Te Komititanga Square for what will be a truly special day.”
The trophy stands over a metre tall, weighs more than 25kg, and features the engraved history of every champion club, making it one of the most recognisable and sought‑after prizes in world sport.
Seven different teams have lifted the Premier League trophy since its inception in 1992, with Liverpool the current champions.
