Talking to Rome-based paper La Repubblica, Renata continued: 'Our lunch lasted two hours and we talked a bit about Leicester but he wanted to feel comfortable. Then he told me the president had a plane for him ready to return to England. We said goodbye and he went to Ciampino airport.
'I have to say we never expected that it could happen but Claudio told me he had found a great group of players who have trained like true professionals and finally everything has fallen into place and my son has found himself.
'He is now the King of England and we are hearing compliments about him from all over the world and I thank them all.'
Leicester City is the 16th side that Ranieri has managed but his mother believed he did not receive the credit he deserved for managing home club Roma between 2009-2011.
'He has won a trophy before but there has been a lack of respect,' said Renata. 'I was sorry how it ended with Roma as the whole family are Giallorossi fans. But now he is a champion of England and we couldn't be prouder.'
