This morning's Galaxy training session was quite an extraordinary experience, in a make-your-ears-bleed kind of way.
Thousands of schoolchildren screaming and squealing non-stop for two hours made for a unique atmosphere - and one that was probably quite draining on the players.
Afterwards, speaking to Cobi Jones -the former USA midfielder who became something of a star in his own right in the 2002 World Cup - he looked shattered.
This wouldn't have been because the work-out was a hard test physically - it wasn't, just a bit of light running, stretching, some 7-a-side and some crossing practice.
It may be that being asked yet more questions about his English teammate is becoming a bit tiring, despite his protestations that Beckham drawing all the attention "isn't a concern".
The man himself wasn't speaking today, other than to give a brief thanks to the kids for turning out in such big numbers.
He looks a bit jaded and coughed a few times in training.
But, as ever, he was putting everything into it, chasing, tackling and playing some deft touches and there was no sign of any ankle problems.
Having watched him display his natural skills, albeit at little more than jogging pace, this morning it was amusing to then read the Your Views forum discussing Beckham, in which I see our friend "Rainbow Warrior" has stirred up a bit of a hornet's nest by questioning his greatness (and the use of the word "football").
"Rainbow Warrior" should have been there to see the session this morning and see what Beckham meant to those kids, and then watched the way he plays football, sorry, soccer.
You just don't see ability like that in any sport very often.
As for "Snelly Boy", his comments that Beckham "was a good but not world class player" and "Thank Christ Tottenham offloaded him as a kid. It would have been embarrassing to have had him in one's team" are laughable.
Clearly Spurs, with their very limited trophy success since that brief flash in the pan in the 1980s, have benefited greatly by rejecting world class players.
Anyway, back to today, which after a chilly start has turned sunny and warm-ish, more to the Los Angeles-based players' liking no doubt.
Tonight they will make an appearance at the Phoenix v Adelaide United A-League game.
Adelaide will probably be wondering what the hell is going on when they step out in front of a large crowd, only for the biggest cheer of the night to be saved for a tattooed bloke with a shaven head who will be introduced to the crowd at half-time.
