Andre Ayew out for up to 8 weeks with knee injury

MARSEILLE, France (AP) Marseille winger Andre Ayew needs surgery on his left knee and will be out for up to eight weeks.

Ayew sprained his knee playing for Ghana in the second half of the World Cup playoff second-leg against Egypt on Tuesday.

Marseille said on its website that medical tests revealed that Ayew has a slight tear in his knee and will undergo surgery on Monday.

After a difficult start to the season, the 23-year-old was finding his form recently, scoring four goals in the past nine games.
