New All Whites coach Fritz Schmid will shortly name his first All Whites squad for the upcoming friendly against Canada. Who's in the mix to make Schmid's first team?

Jason Pine updates the All Whites Power Rankings (previous positions in brackets).

1. (2) Ryan Thomas (PEC Zwolle, Netherlands)
Playing
every week in the Dutch top flight and continues to earn high praise from all observers.

2. (3) Winston Reid (West Ham United, England)
Injury has curtailed his recent involvement, but Schmid would dearly love to have his captain involved right from the start of his tenure.

3. (1) Chris Wood (Burnley, England)
Injury has kept the All Whites' number one striker on the sidelines since before Christmas, but he was on the bench for his side's last outing.

4. (4) Stefan Marinovic (Vancouver Whitecaps, Canada)
Well-established as New Zealand's number one 'keeper and about to start the new MLS season.

5. (5) Michael Boxall (Minnesota United, USA)
Part of the first-choice back-three in the last 18 months and continuing to grow in stature as an international defender.

6. (8) Tommy Smith (Colorado Rapids, USA)
Has joined former national coach Anthony Hudson at Colorado and is certainly part of New Zealand's best starting eleven.

7. (6) Marco Rojas (SC Heerenveen, Netherlands)
Extremely short on game time in the last three months, so would relish a starting role in the national side.

8. (10) Themi Tzimopoulos (PAS Giannina FC, Greece)
Quietly goes about his business in the Greek top flight where he plays every week. Never lets his side down in a white shirt.

9. (13) Kosta Barbarouses (Melbourne Victory FC, Australia)
Started both games in the intercontinental playoff against Peru and a regular in the A-League for Victory.

10. (7) Michael McGlinchey (Wellington Phoenix, New Zealand)
Has endured a mixed A-League season, but is now New Zealand's most experienced international and a key midfield contributor.

11. (19) Bill Tuiloma (Portland Timbers, USA)
Appeals as a 50-cap international but needs to force his way in at club level to continue his development.

12. (9) Deklan Wynne (Colorado Rapids, USA)
A big year for the incumbent New Zealand left-back as he looks to truly establish himself for his country and new MLS club.

13. (32) Jake Gleeson (Portland Timbers FC, USA)
Hasn't played for New Zealand since 2014 despite impressing hugely in the MLS. Must surely be his time again, especially with Glen Moss retiring.

14. (29) Tyler Boyd (Tondela, Portugal)
Ignored by Anthony Hudson but playing regularly at a good level in Europe. Time for a recall.

15. (20) Kip Colvey (Colorado Rapids, USA)
The incumbent New Zealand right-back who will be looking for a big MLS season under Hudson to further stake his international claims.

16. (18) Clayton Lewis (Scunthorpe, England)
Has earned a long-hoped-for professional move but needs to be playing games to keep his spot in New Zealand's starting side.

17. (17) Tom Doyle (Wellington Phoenix, New Zealand)
Well-established now at club level and battling with Wynne for the left-back spot.

18. (14) Monty Patterson (Wellington Phoenix, New Zealand on loan from Ipswich Town, England)
Looking to secure a full-time move to the Phoenix and continue to push for more international minutes.

19. (11) Storm Roux (Central Coast Mariners, Australia)
Recently brought up 100 A-League games and will be keen to kick-start an injury-curtailed international career.

20. (28) Matthew Ridenton (Wellington Phoenix, New Zealand)
An impressive breakthrough season for the Phoenix should see the young midfielder back in the All Whites mix.

21. (15) Myer Bevan (Vancouver Whitecaps, Canada)
Another with a big year ahead. Looks every inch an international centre-forward of the future.

22. (33) Jeremy Brockie (Mamelodi Sundowns, South Africa)
Still searching for a first goal for his new club, but an experienced international striker who would still do a job for the new coach.

23. (16) James Musa (Sporting Kansas City)
Got his chance late in Hudson's tenure, but needs to be playing regularly in the MLS to catch Schmid's eye.

24. (RE-ENTRY) Te Atawhai Hudson-Wihongi (Auckland City FC, New Zealand)
Back playing after an injury-wrecked 2017 and keen to add to his five caps.

25. (NEW ENTRY) Michael Woud (Sunderland, England)
The young goalkeeper showed huge promise at the under-20 World Cup last year and is in line for regular All Whites squad inclusion.

26. (23) Alex Rufer (Wellington Phoenix, New Zealand)
On the fringes of the Phoenix side and at 21 needs to decide where his footballing future lies.

27. (35) Sarpreet Singh (Wellington Phoenix, New Zealand)
The age-group rep burst onto the A-League scene with an eye-catching goal this month and seems a certain future full international.

28. (25) Dane Ingham (Brisbane Roar, Australia)
Has played just six games in the last two club seasons, but at 18, time is on his side.

29. (27) Jai Ingham (Melbourne Victory, Australia)
30. (RE-ENTRY) Max Crocombe (Salford City, England)
31. (24) Sam Brotherton (Sunderland, England)
32. (NEW ENTRY) Adam Mitchell (Bolton Wanderers, England)
33. (NEW ENTRY) Andre De Jong (Eastern Suburbs, New Zealand)
34. (26) Moses Dyer (Eastern Suburbs AFC, New Zealand)
35. (34) Logan Rogerson (Wellington Phoenix, New Zealand)
36. (36) Luke Adams (Ljungskile SK, Sweden)
37. (38) Louis Fenton (Melbourne Knights, Australia)
38. (30) Henry Cameron (Unattached)
39. (RE-ENTRY) Cameron Howieson (Auckland City, New Zealand)
40. (37) Hamish Watson (Team Wellington, New Zealand)
41. (40) Niko Kirwan (AC Mestre, Italy)
42. (31) Oli Sail (Wellington Phoenix, New Zealand)
43. (RE-ENTRY) Liam Graham (Auckland City FC, New Zealand)
