30,000 Iceland football fans perform slow clapping salute

The Iceland football team's slow clap ritual was one of the features of the minnow nation's fairytale Euro 2016 run, and they've saved the most impressive performance for their exit.

An estimated 30,000 fans gathered in the country's capital, Reykjavik, to salute their heroes after they lost 5-2 to tournament hosts France in the quarterfinals on Monday morning.

The crowd comprised about a quarter of the city's population, and 10 per cent of the nation.
