Equestrian: Edgecombe wins jumpoff

Waipukurau rider Oliver Edgecombe and Vancouver headed home a quality field in the horse grand prix at the Masterton A and P Show yesterday.

Edgecombe, Dannevirke's Maurice Beatson and Julie Hart, of Hastings, were the only riders from 13 starters to go clear in the opening round.

Edgecombe won the jumpoff, going fast and clear, while Beatson was also clear but a little slower and Hart incurred eight faults.
