Dan Carter pokes fun at Masoe's French skills

Dan Carter has had some fun at the expense of fellow former All Black and current French club team-mate Chris Masoe.

Masoe was named man-of-the-match after Racing 92's 34-10 win over the Glasgow Warriors at the weekend which leaves the pair's Paris-based club top of their pool in the European Cup.

But in the post-match interview with the host broadcaster, Carter poked fun at Masoe's inability to speak or understand French despite the former Hurricanes and All Blacks flanker moving to France in 2009.

In contrast, Carter has been winning over fans with his attempts to speak French as much as possible, having taken lessons in New Zealand before heading to Paris.

To make his point, Carter spoke to Masoe in French at the interviewer's request.

Asked what Carter had said, Masoe laughed and admitted: "I have no idea".

Carter kicked five from five shots at goal in the victory as his 12 points helped his side maintain their unbeaten run in the competition.

Understood to be earning about $3.3million a season for his new club, Carter's rich vein of recent form is continuing.

A year ago he was under an injury cloud and couldn't win the No10 Crusaders jersey from Colin Slade.

Since that difficult season with the Crusaders, who failed to make the Super Rugby playoffs, Carter played starring roles in all three knockout games of the World Cup in the United Kingdom, the All Blacks becoming the first nation to defend their title.

Carter, the World Player of the Year, was involved twice in the move that led to the game's opening try at the Stade Yves-du-Manoir.

He is in possession of an all-round game which is making him a fan's favourite in Paris and appears to be enjoying the social side of the French capital, recently posting a picture on social media of a dinner with former teammates including Joe Rokocoko.

Meanwhile, former All Black midfielder Ma'a Nonu's new club Toulon continue to impress with a narrow Champions Cup victory over 12-9 over Bath. The win meant Toulon has won 17 matches in a row at home.

Former Blues wing Frank Halai helped his Wasps side to a come-from-behind victory against Worcester with a late try in the 32-22 win.

Worcester, without former Chiefs wing Bryce Heem to has returned to New Zealand to get married, had threated to win only for Halai and Sailiosi Tagicakibau to score in the final 10 minutes.

Former Blues fullback Charles Piutau did not play for Wasps due to a hamstring injury.
