By becoming the first-ever Welsh to claim La Grande Boucle, Geraint Thomas is the new icon of a nation.
After lighting the City Hall and the Welsh Assembly in yellow, the Cardiff City Council is now looking at organising a huge walkabout for Thomas reports The Telegraph.
"We had a bit of steam to let off," teammate Luke Rowe said. "It was a great night, although some of us look a bit sorry for ourselves today."
2012 Tour de France winner Sir Bradley Wiggins has a warning his former teammate however.
"Be careful now because you are the winner of the Tour de France, you can't roll round on the floor and be sick like you have done in the past, because you'll be in the papers tomorrow morning. Everything you do now becomes a news story. You discover that pretty quickly".
