New Zealand cyclist Julian Dean will be off the bike for about a week after a crash while training with new Australian team GreenEDGE.
Dean was at the team's training camp in Thredbo on the weekend when he suffered a shoulder blade fracture.
A team spokesman said the seven-time Tour
de France veteran would have to stay off his road bike for up to a fortnight, but was keen to return sooner.
He won't not need surgery.
Dean and his teammates will officially become GreenEDGE riders on January 1.
