Australian fast bowler Mitchell Johnson has denied that a public falling out with his mother is the reason behind his form slump in the current Ashes series.
The fast bowler managed to hold onto his spot for the third Test at Edgbaston which started last night, despite the fact that many have called for his axing after conceding 331 runs for eight wickets in the first two matches.
There is conjecture that a public attack by Johnson's mother, Vikki Harber, on his fiancee, Jessica Bratich, had led to his sub-par performances.
Harber accused Bratich of "stealing Johnson from her" and said in a television interview that her son's partner was more interested in money and fame than Johnson's career, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.
But Johnson told the SMH the issue had not weighed on his mind at all during the opening two Tests.
Bratich is a former national karate champion and was recently a cover girl for the raunchy Ralph mens magazine.
She went on tour with the Australian cricket team, thus becoming one of the 'WAGs' ("Wives And Girfriends"), in media parlance.
No date has been set for the couple's wedding.
