Watch: Northern Districts leading the way as women's cricket grows

Women's cricket is on the rise, and Northern Districts are the forefront of the progress in New Zealand.

The organisation has become the first Kiwi provincial side to offer paid contracts to their top female players, while also starting a four-team regional women's league.

The moves coincide with White Ferns players recieving larger contracts from New Zealand cricket, and are aimed at making cricket a more viable career option for young girls.

The New Zealand Herald spoke to Northern Districts CEO Peter Roach and key player Felicity Leydon-Davis to learn how these initiatives will benefit the women's game.
