A tropical cyclone looks set to make Australian selectors' tough call on who to drop for returning captain Michael Clarke in Saturday's World Cup clash with Bangladesh a moot point.
Australia are set to change the team that thrashed England in their World Cup opener to bring back skipper MichaelClarke as long as there are no late setbacks in his return from hamstring surgery.
However, the selection dilemma may take a back seat to the weather with up to 300mm of heavy rain set to hit the south-east region in the lead-up to the match due to a cyclone forming off north Queensland.
Australian coach Darren Lehmann said on Wednesday the selectors would not be influenced by outside "feedback" when they decide on who to drop ahead of the Gabba clash.
Stand-in skipper George Bailey looks the most likely to make way for Clarke. But there are also critics calling for all-rounder Shane Watson to be dropped after his golden duck in Australia's World Cup opening win over England.
"You do listen to what's being said but at the end of the day you have got to make the right call for that particular game," Lehmann told SEN radio. "You get all the callers and all the feedback but you've got to make the right decision and we'll always try and do that."
But Clarke's comeback may be delayed until their third World Cup clash against New Zealand in Auckland next week due to Queensland's wild weather. The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast an 80 per cent chance of rain with thunderstorms on Saturday.
"Beautiful sunshine at the moment, but I think that's it for the day - we got a couple of days of wet weather," Lehmann conceded. "We'll work out what the best 11 is once it clears up.
