Cricket: Super-sub to be canned

Cricket's one day super-sub rules is about to be given the flick, after less than a year in existence.

The ICC wants to end the concept at the end of next month, wary of the toss becoming even more important under the sub rules.

In an ironic twist, the West Indies play their first match under the new rules this weekend, the opening one dayer against the Black Caps.

The Windies have not played an international one dayer using super subs or power plays.

Windies skipper Shivnarine Chanderpaul says they need time before supporting or protesting over the concept.

Chanderpaul says personally he needs to play a few games before making an assessment.
