New Zealand will play their group matches in Karachi and Rawalpindi at September's Champions Trophy - providing Pakistan are confirmed as host for the ODI tournament.
The trophy will be restricted to three venues - Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi - on the basis that is the best wayto maintain the tight security which will be a critical component of the tournament.
New Zealand, in group B, will play Sri Lanka on September 12 in Karachi, followed by South Africa in Rawalpindi on September 15 and then England four days later, also at Rawalpindi.
The top two teams in each group advance to the semifinals, one each in Karachi and Rawalpindi before the September 28 final at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, host of the 1996 World Cup final.
The International Cricket Council are planning a detailed security inspection ahead of their meeting in June, at which point a decision is expected to be made on whether to proceed with Pakistan, plagued by security concerns in the wake of recent bombings, as hosts.
The 15 games will be compressed into a 17-day programme, far shorter than the 2006 month-long format.
The back-up country, if Pakistan is deemed unsafe, is Sri Lanka.
Group A comprises Australia, India, Pakistan and the West Indies.
Defending champions Australia are scheduled to begin their campaign against India in Lahore on September 13.
