Cricket: Auckland beat Wellington

Richard Jones guided Auckland to a seven-wicket win over Wellington in a Twenty20 cricket match in Auckland.

Jones scored 47 not out from 29 balls as Auckland made 150 for three in 18.3 overs, chasing Wellington's 148 for six at Eden Park's Outer Oval.

A fine allround performance from Nathan McCullum helped steer Otago to a commanding Twenty20 cricket victory over Northern Districts in Dunedin.

McCullum made 26 with the bat then took figures of four for 16 with the ball as Otago won by 100 runs.

Jacob Oram clubbed a bruising half-century as Central Districts overpowered Canterbury by 92 runs in New Plymouth. Central Districts scored 196 for nine at Pukekura Park.
