MATCH STATUS
Australia has won the first cricket test against New Zealand by nine wickets.
After bowling out the Black Caps for 150 all out the home team were made to chase 19 runs to win.
Despite losing the wicket of opener Peter Hughes in the second over to Chris Martin, it was a straight forward process for the Australians with debutant David Warner hitting a four to clinch the win.
For the Black Caps their miserable day started in the second over with James Pattinson picking up three wickets and a fourth later in the session to send their side into raptures.
The visitors had a mini-revival with Daniel Vettori and Dean Brownlie making 52 runs together before the former skipper was dismissed by Mike Hussey before lunch.
Brownlie lasted four overs before he was dispatched by Peter Siddle and the lower order followed shortly after with Tim Southee and Martin the last to go.
Spinner Nathan Lyon picked up three wckets in the second innings to claim 7 wickets for the match, but it was Pattinson's five wicket bag which started the Black Caps downfall.
