It may be under dispute by the New Zealand camp but Mitchell Starc joined an exclusive fast bowlers club with his 160.4 km/h thunderbolt to Ross Taylor at the Waca yesterday.
Taylor managed to keep out the full toss which is supposedly the quickest ball recorded in testmatch history.
Starc sent down the delivery during a blistering spell with the new ball during the final session on day three. He became just the fifth player to deliver a recorded ball over 160 km/h.
Pakistan's Shoaib Akhtar holds the world record with a 161.3 km/h ball in a 2003 ODI.
Shane Bond is the only New Zealander to top 155, reaching 156.4 km/h against India at the 2003 World Cup.
