West Australian XI Will Bosisto and Sam Whiteman put some starch into their innings against New Zealand in their pink ball day-night two-dayer at the Waca tonight.
The innings was listing before the pair put on an entertaining 99 for the fifth wicket. By the dinner break, the WA XIhad reached 237 for five, off 58 overs, with wicketkeeper Whiteman on 71 and Josh Inglis on nine.
Bosisto was out for 78 shortly before the interval, backing up from his maiden Sheffield Shield century against Victoria this week.
Bosisto had impressed, as had Whiteman, a Yorkshire-born lefthander who looked the part, with a string of boundaries.
The key to the game, however, is for New Zealand to get a good workout with the pink ball, ahead of next week's inaugural day-night test at Adelaide Oval.
The early successes had gone to lively left armer Neil Wagner, who induced opener Marcus North, after a brisk 33, and Jon Wells to play deliveries onto their stumps.
After left arm spinner Mitchell Santner removed Tom Beaton for 24, Wagner snared a third wicket, having Ashton Turner caught at first slip.
Bosisto was run out in unusual fashion, the ball from Santner sneaking past him off his bat to be run out by quick thinking wicketkeeper Luke Ronchi.
