Jacob Oram is finally adjusting to life outside the Black Caps camp with his back injury.
Oram says he is doing some light weights and plenty of cycling, and has been given a new insight into the world of professional athlete recovery.
He reluctantly agrees it has been the right
decision to take him out of the summer of cricket with his back injury and has been doing what is called "active rest".
Oram says that even though he had started to run and bat again, his back was not symptom-free so it was decided to can his comeback for the current Australian series.
He says it is a shame he has missed having a crack at the Australians after a promising series against them pre-Christmas.
However, he has been out of the game now for two and a half months and he is over the frustration.
Oram is hoping to be available for the Black Caps in Zimbabwe in September.
