New Zealand completed their first home test win in 13 months and a 1-0 series victory when they beat Sri Lanka by an innings and 38 runs in the second cricket test in Wellington today.
Trailing by 311 on the first innings, Sri Lanka were dismissed for 273 in their second innings
just before stumps on the fourth day.
Tillakaratne Dilshan topscored for the tourists with 73 but the resistance ended when he was bowled by Nathan Astle, who ended with figures of three for 27.
Left-armer James Franklin took the last wicket to fall, Chaminda Vaas for 38, and ended with the best figures of four for 71.
