Adam Milne's ability to exceed bowling speeds of 150 kilometres per hour appears to put him in the front-running to be named in the Black Caps' World Cup squad.
The paceman picked up two wickets in New Zealand's win over Pakistan in the second one-day international in Sharjah this morning.
Bowling coach Shane Bond, who was the last Kiwi to consistently crack the magic 150 kph barrier, told Veitch on Sport today that Milne's pace gives the Black Caps an extra edge to their attack.
"When you look at our pitches, and they certainly have pace and bounce in them, it can make life difficult when you've got a guy bowling with pace and accuracy at the chest area," he said.
"I certainly think he adds a point of difference. I'm probably biased because I bowled in that category myself and getting to sit here and see Adam bowl live ... it's genuinely fast."
Milne's World Cup prospects may be even brighter after it was announced fellow quick Kyle Mills was returning home from the UAE after suffreing a groin strain in training.
A timeline for the veteran seam bowler's return is not yet known, but he will get further assessment and treatment in New Zealand.
No decision has been made yet on whether Mills will be replaced in the Black Caps' current one-day squad.
