Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat in the second one-day cricket match against New Zealand in Wellington today.
The continued absence of fast bowler Ishant Sharma with a shoulder injury caused India to name the same side which won the first match of the
series by 53 runs on Tuesday.
"That win has given us a lot of confidence but it's important for us to be positive but not overconfident," Dhoni said.
New Zealand made one change to its side for the match, naming wicketkeeper Peter McGlashan to make his one-day international debut.
Regular keeper Brendon McCullum was unable to take the gloves because of a badly-bruised thumb, but was named to play as a batsman, forcing Neil Broom out of the side.
"Losing the toss is a bit disappointing because we were going to have a bat today," New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori said.
"It's important try and disrupt their pattern a little bit. We wanted to come out on a pretty good deck and look to put some pressure on them but that's not to be."
Spectators at the match observed a minute's silence in memory of those killed in a terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team in Lahore, Pakistan on Tuesday. Six police officers and a driver were killed and seven players, an umpire and a coach were wounded, none very seriously.
