Black Caps skipper Stephen Fleming is humbly deflecting his record breaking day at Newlands.
Fleming hit his third test double century, posting 262 to guide New Zealand to 535 for eight at stumps on day two of the second cricket test against South Africa in Cape Town.
Ably assisted byJames Franklin, who is on a career best 93 not out, Fleming has hit the highest score by a kiwi against the Proteas, the best individual score at Newlands and becoming the first New Zealander to score three test double centuries.
The eighth wicket partnership of 256 with Franklin is a record for New Zealand against South Africa.
Fleming says he is thinking more about his side than his own goals.
He says he wanted to see the side through to a substantial total, knowing the pitch is beginning to turn.
Jeetan Patel will join James Franklin at the wicket tonight, as the allrounder approaches his maiden test ton.
