Cricket: Derbyshire CEO quits for NZ

Derbyshire county cricket chief executive Tom Sears is to take up a business development position with Cricket New Zealand.

Sears, 39, leaves Derbyshire after three years in charge at the County Ground and will be based in Christchurch.

Sears joined Derbyshire from Worcestershire and oversaw a financial turnaround of the county.

The club were facing significant six-figure losses but Sears and chairman Don Amott introduced an extensive restructuring programme that saw the county post profits in the last two years.

Cricket NZ chief executive Justin Vaughan announced a restructuring of its administration in June, disestablishing 11 positions and creating 20 new jobs.

The search for a replacement for Black Caps coach John Bracewell to take charge at the end of India's tour of New Zealand next March-April also continues.
