Bob Carter is re-joining the New Zealand cricket team as assistant coach.
Carter, 52, will work alongside new head coach Mike Hesson following John Wright's departure. Carter has been head coach of Canterbury since 2008 after spending several seasons as an assistant with the Black Caps while John Bracewell was
head coach. He also coached Northamptonshire in the English county competition and has worked with New Zealand A sides.
High performance director John Buchanan said: "Bob brings a wealth of experience to the role having coached with Northamptonshire, Canterbury and with the Black Caps and will provide valuable support to head coach, Mike Hesson, and captain, Ross Taylor.
"He will help provide the right balance within the coaching group and complements the skill-set of the rest of the unit," said Buchanan.
Carter will join the team before its tour of India which begins with a test in Hyderabad in a fortnight.
